Firefly
I gazed at the sky with the stars singing bright
Their softness of presence embodies the night
They hang in the sky like a crown for the trees
Their silhouette's swaying to summer night's breeze
Then even as branches reach out for the stars
A fragile light slowly descends from afar
Her journey defined by the whims of the wind
The white seed of dandelion's traveling twin
She descended through branches that tried to grab hold
Of this Tinkerbell star, this delicate gold
Her presence betrayed by the glow uncontained
Then hidden from sight as her shine was restrained
This shining then hiding would leave you to guess
First where did she go, and where she'll be next
This blinking and winking of fairy-tale light
From this star that descended in darkness of night
Their softness of presence embodies the night
They hang in the sky like a crown for the trees
Their silhouette's swaying to summer night's breeze
Then even as branches reach out for the stars
A fragile light slowly descends from afar
Her journey defined by the whims of the wind
The white seed of dandelion's traveling twin
She descended through branches that tried to grab hold
Of this Tinkerbell star, this delicate gold
Her presence betrayed by the glow uncontained
Then hidden from sight as her shine was restrained
This shining then hiding would leave you to guess
